Recap on Sportsman Club Fundraiser for Malik

Monday, October 26th, 2009

This past Sunday was the day of our friend Malik’s fundraising dinner at Windsor’s Sportsman Club.  I, along with many others, attended and feasted on an all-you-can-eat buffet in the name of a great cause.  The turnout was great, and the funds raised were very appreciated.  Another thank you goes out to those individuals and businesses who contributed donations and raffle prizes.

This past weekend, I visited Heather and her wonderful family.  We decided to go out to take advantage of the vibrant fall colours and the warm sunshine–and take some pictures, of course.  The maples around Heather’s house were in peak colour and the kids were full of energy.  I had a lot of fun seeing everyone again, and capturing some memories in the process.  Check out some of my favourites, including one of me and Heather– we haven’t had a picture together in forever!

Britton Images Fall Family Photography! – Windsor Family Photographer

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

Ethan (aka Optimus Prime) and his little brother Maddex were in the studio this afternoon, with their parents.  We had a lot of fun (with and without bubbles) and got some great shots– not hard with such a great-looking family!  Also, Happy 4th Birthday, Ethan!

Britton Images is celebrating 80 years of style with Freeds – Windsor Commercial Photographer

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

A few weeks ago, I was asked to be a part of printed history and shoot for the Freeds 80th Anniversary magazine.  We spent 2 mornings at Freeds, documenting the people and fashion as well as the men behind 2 of Windsor’s best known salons: U4ia on Howard and T’Dye For on Ottawa.

The magazine itself is set to be released with the Windsor Star tomorrow.  However, the digital copy, which is already available, can be viewed on the Windsor Star website.  The following are the pages on which my work is featured.  Enjoy!

Cooking with Georgina Burns

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

How does a plate of prime rib, roasted rosemary potatoes and mixed bean salad with a mexi- kick, sound?  How about finished with your choice of mouth-watering apple or nutella-banana crepes?  Yum, right?

Tuesday night I took part in a fun and informative cooking class offered by Georgina Burns at the Freed-Orman kitchen.  I’m now incredibly proud to say that I’m a pro at making the above menu.. well, more or less.  Either way, the kitchen was alight with positive energy, as Georgina circulated and offered thorough instruction to her pupils– I’m sure the amazing aromas wafted over to the University, lighting more than a few students’ appetites.

Georgina is a local caterer who offers weekly cooking classes out of the Freed-Orman kitchen.  I know I wouldn’t mind going back again.. and I certainly recommend her class to all my friends!  Jeez.. my mouth is watering just thinking about it, again.

If only computers had a scratch and sniff option..

Update on our friend Malik

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

A few weeks ago, Britton Images was happy to be part of a community rally around Malik, the three year old nephew of a good friend.  Malik has been diagnosed with a rare brain cancer, and has spent the better part of the last month in the hospital.  Happily, the hospital issued him a few day passes last week, allowing him to go home and visit with friends and family, and to Malik’s delight, get his hair cut.

I’d like to thank all those who donated– both to the businesses who donated raffle items and to the individual contributors.  The fundraising dinner is certain to be a success thanks to your kindnesses.  Tickets have been going quickly, but there are still some available.  The dinner is to be held at the Windsor Sportsmen Club (at 2401 Dougall Ave) on Sunday October 25, from 2-6pm.  $10 gets you all-you-can-eat pasta, salad and bread.. not to mention goes towards helping Malik and his family.

Again, thanks to those who have already contributed to this event and cause.

Fall Family Photography at Ojibway Park – Windsor Family Photographer

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Autumn is one of the best seasons to do family shoots.  This was a fall shoot I did with Julie, Paul and their daughters Raena and Quincy at Ojibway Park.  They’re the sweetest little girls!
