WATER……THE BEST WAY TO BEAT THE HEAT IN WINDSOR!

Friday, July 9th, 2010

Like kids around a fire hydrant in the hot, humid weather these little feathered friends enjoyed a little sip & dip in our backyard birdbath.  The bluejay just wanted a little drink while the fat, little robin was especially delighted in finding relief from the recent area heatwave.  Lucky my camera just happened to be handy to capture these shots.

RED BULL GIRLS ACTIVATION NIGHT IN WINDSOR

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

Once again the 2010 Red Bull Air Races drew thousands to the riverfront to watch those daredevil pilots vie for a championship spot on their world wide tour.  Activation of the races always begins with those beautiful Red Bull girls making their way to area bars & restaurants to spread the excitement.  This is the second year I was given the contract to shoot the event.  It’s always so exciting to do this event because everyone is so pumped.  And even Mother Nature kept the weather at bay until we completed the run through downtown & Erie Streets.  Here’s to the Red Bull Staff & city officials who planned a fantastic week-end to showcase our city & the plane races.  Here’s a few now.  Will post more later.

Windsor Wedding Photographer Advises Wedding Couples on Hiring a Photographer

Friday, January 8th, 2010

I’ve been getting a number of calls lately from brides looking for wedding photography.  This is a busy time for wedding professionals who spend a lot of time talking services/ price & making appointments.  Sometimes couples get over- focused on price, choosing one photographer over another for a difference 0f $50 to $200.  To many people that amount is a lot & that’s understandable given today’s economy & so on, but believe me, your wedding day only happens once.

There seems to be an abundance of week-end, part-time “photographers” who want to shoot weddings for what they see as an easy way to make a few extra dollars.  Yes, some may even have a good eye with fancy equipment,  but and this is a big but, can they deliver?  Some of the things you may want to ask yourself is:  Is this a full-time professional or a part-time amateur?  Does this person have insurance, back-up person in case he/she is sick , back-up equipment & some references?  Are they registered with Revenue Canada & have a GST number & legitimate business.  Remember, you’re giving money upfront to someone who you have to count on to show up for your day & provide the contracted services.  You may be taking a big risk to hire on an amateur just to save a few dollars.  And what about experience & dependability?  Shooting weddings is not an easy task.  Photographers must have the ability to take charge of differing & possibly stressful situations, sometimes with a large number of people  while remaining patient, calm & focused.   They are on there feet all day long, have to think creatively at all times & be skilled at post processing of images. Post-processing can average out to about 40-60 hrs for a fine-art album.  If having a lifetime of memories is important to a couple then finding a professional based on their work, personality & references should be the most important criteria.  Most professionals usually work out to be about the same price for the same services & albums.

So to all the couples shopping for a wedding photographer, be  informed & get educated!  Your photos will be the ever lasting memories of your big day, passed down from generation to generation.  This is one place where skimping may come back to haunt you!  Get to know your photographer, ask questions & more importantly get a feel for their integrity & quality of product they produce.  Shopping in this way will almost always guarantee your satisfaction.  The bottom line is and always will be “You get what you pay for”.

Recap on Sportsman Club Fundraiser for Malik

Monday, October 26th, 2009

This past Sunday was the day of our friend Malik’s fundraising dinner at Windsor’s Sportsman Club.  I, along with many others, attended and feasted on an all-you-can-eat buffet in the name of a great cause.  The turnout was great, and the funds raised were very appreciated.  Another thank you goes out to those individuals and businesses who contributed donations and raffle prizes.

*arf* Help me find a home! *arf*

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Here at Britton Images, we’re currently in the process of finding our new friend Diesel a stable, loving home.

IMG_9741

Diesel is a mixed breed herding dog, possibly some Australian Shepherd. He is no more than 1 year old and quite a personality. He has had a bad start though. Originally he hung around a gas station in Harrow so was picked up and brought to Windsor because he was almost hit by a car. His new owner had him for about one month but did not spend much time at home and left him outside in his fenced yard. Unfortunately Diesel has a bit of separation anxiety and climbed the fence easily and just missed getting hit on Pillette many times. This dog is a free-spirit, loving and affectionate, good with other dogs but we are unsure about kids. He needs lots of attention, a dependable schedule to feel safe and plenty of play time. He is not an outside dog!!!! Someone will have to get him neutered, heart-worm tested and invest in a crate and time in training. He has had absolutely no discipline but is responding to training now. Diesel would make a great agility dog we believe. Because of his separation anxiety he needs a stable, scheduled and patient home. He will not grow more than about 30-40 lbs. He will truly be a loyal companion dog.

Volunteering – Carrousel by the River – June 13, 14, 15

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

Carrousel by the River is put on by the Multicultural Council of Windsor.
It takes place June 13, 14, 15. The carrousel this year has been moved to Charles Clark square cause of the Red Bull races.

They have gotten a number of St. Clair College students to volunteer but are still looking for more volunteers as it’s 3 days and one can never have enough help especially when it comes to security personnel. It’s a great event!!!!!! Please let them know if you are interested again and what times you would like to volunteer. Each volunteer will receive an event t-shirt as well as food vouchers to be used on your break or after your shit(s).

Bark Busters

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

Ok, so Steve from Bark Busters was just here to help me with little Bear’s barking! As most of you know Bear is here at the studio every day with me, he’s such good company!! BUT, he likes to bark when people come in… which we need to curb.
Well, thanks to the help of Steve, I know we can get him on the right track :)
If anyone out there needs help with their doggies give Steve a call. He’s very informative and nice too! Plus he helps with more than just barking… it’s all bad behaviour… even on our part lol
check ‘em out at www.barkbusters.ca or 519.734.0141 is their local numberamy_bear
